The promotion behind the brand new upcoming AMC series “Walking Dead” was one of the highlights at this year’s San Diego Comic Con (check out some of our favorite costumes). The zombie craze even spilled outside the convention doors into the nearby streets of the Gas Lamp district and made a huge impression among SDCC attendees.
One of those attendees was animator Daniel Kanemoto who was such a huge fan of Robert Kirkman’s comic that he decided to create his own animated title sequence. Art Of The Title Sequence caught up with Kanemoto and spoke to him about his project.
I began this project after witnessing all the promotion surrounding Frank Darabont’s adaptation of “The Walking Dead” at the San Diego Comic-Con. I’ve followed the show’s development for years, ever since Frank optioned Robert Kirkman’s groundbreaking comic book. And when I laid eyes on the teaser trailer, I was thrilled, both as a fan and a filmmaker… because what I saw onscreen looked exactly like what I imagined when I first read the comic.”
